Scripture: 1 Corinthians 13
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Here Paul describes love as an action not as a subjective feeling. He makes a list about what love does and what love doesn’t do.
We can’t say that we have always loved others exactly like Paul describes. We are not always patient, kind, humble, selfless, slow to be angry, or forgiving. There is, however, one person who can say that they have always loved others perfectly, our Lord Jesus. He is our perfect example for loving others and our forgiveness when we get it wrong.
Lord God, thank You for loving me perfectly. Help me to love others the same way and forgive me when I haven’t. In Jesus name, Amen.
